The Leading House for the Middle East and North Africa has been created in 2017. It is managed by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO).
The goal of the Leading House MENA is to promote scientific cooperation between researchers in Swiss institutions and partners in the MENA region, mainly by offering funding instruments for research projects. Calls for applications are open to researchers from Swiss federal and cantonal universities, including universities of teacher education and universities of applied sciences and arts, as well as public research institutions.
Projects must have at least one partner in one of the countries of the MENA region. Eligible countries are: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
