LH AfricaMIRAHI (Making Innovation a Reality – African Health Initiative) is a program that supports the validation and scale-up of novel, equitable and sustainable solutions to health challenges in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
The program is run with partners from a number of African countries together with the University of Basel Innovation Office, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH), and the broader Swiss innovation ecosystem. Example partners are the Healthtech Hub Africa and Ifakara Health Institute Innovation Hub
Partners have been selected based on their ability to facilitate insight into healthcare challenges and engage with startups. To ensure that the right opportunity is made available for each selected venture, matchmaking will be done with shortlisted startups. This will enable each startup to validate its solution and gain an understanding of real healthcare challenges in the appropriate context.
Eligibility:
Science-based start-ups and innovators from Switzerland looking to gain access to healthcare challenges in Sub-Saharan African countries to facilitate the validation of solutions that can have an impact in the region.
Funding:
Approx 2,000 CHF for funded travel opportunities and 5,000 CHF for funding of pilot opportunities.
